What Ever Happened To Catherine Bell

Why was Catherine Bell famous?

This. This is why.

Catherine Bell first hit our screens as a child actor, starring in various TV adverts. She went on to become an extra in a number of series, such as Vanishing Son, Dream On, and even Friends.

Despite starting her career during her youth, Catherine and acting parted ways when she decided to study biomedical engineering at UCLA. But rather than realising her ambition to become a doctor, she dropped out to begin modelling in Japan, before making her return to acting; firstly in an Amex advert and later as a body double in Death Becomes Her.

Her first big break came when she landed a part in the in the long-running US legal drama, JAG, playing Lieutenant Colonel Sarah ‘Mac’ MacKenzie.

Given that she appeared in all ten seasons of JAG, it’s little surprise that the late nineties and early noughties were largely taken up by her role as Mac.

However, Catherine did make time to star alongside Jim Carrey in Bruce Almighty in 2003. Hold on, that was Jennifer Aniston! No, not her; Ms Bell was none other than the flirty news anchor to blame for the breakup of Bruce and Grace.

Post-JAG, Catherine signed up for another TV series, Army Wives. After a successful seven years as Denise Sherwood, Catherine confirmed the news that the show had come to an end via her Twitter account in 2013.

In between filming for Army Wives, Catherine also managed to make time for a TV movie called The Good Witch. It premiered on Hallmark Channel to great success, and as such, spawned another six sequels between 2009 and 2014.

However, Catherine might not have achieved all she has if it wasn’t for a very good teacher. Before her success on screen, she was too shy to act. After returning from Japan, she took an acting class that helped her to express herself and become the actress she is today.

Where Is Catherine Bell Now?

If you thought The Good Witch had run its course after the final TV movie The Good Witch’s Wonder aired last year, you’d be wrong.

In February 2014, the Hallmark Channel announced that the concept has been turned into a 10-episode TV series, with Catherine reprieving her role as Cassandra Nightingale.

The first episode is due to air on 28th February 2015, but if you can’t wait that long, Catherine has been sharing a few teasers on her Instagram.

Catherine is also starring in a family-friendly comedy set for the big screen; The Bandit Hound. The film, due for release at the end of 2015, follows the story of a lovable dog who is trained by his adopted family to assist in robberies – with some rather humorous consequences.

Although raised as a Roman Catholic by her Iranian mother and Scottish father, Catherine has joined the likes of Tom Cruise as a practicing Scientologist. She even once appeared in a scientology music video alongside Isaac Hayes, Erika Christensen, Jenna Elfman, and Lynsey Bartilson.

As well as being a Scientologist, Catherine describes herself as a tomboy thanks to her love of extreme sports, cars, motorcycles, and technology. And despite her success as a TV actress, she says her best job is being a mother to her daughter Gemma and son Ronan.
